Who makes the best rappelling/climbing equipment?

I’m just now getting interested in rappelling and climbing and I was wondering who makes the best or most reliable decenders, fall arrestors, and all that.

Descenders? Are you going to just be walking to the top of the cliff and rappelling down or are you planning on climbing up a cliff that has no trail down so you`ll have to rappel to get back down?

Sterling, Bluewater, and Mammut make good ropes. If you are rock climbing you`ll want a dynamic rope and if you are just planning on rappelling you`ll want a static rope. Its ok to rappel off a dynamic rope if you used it to climb.

For just rappelling you`ll want a figure 8, its what you call a "descender" But they tend to be too heavy to climb with and many climber just use their belay device, what you call a "fall arrestor", to rappel back down after climbing so they arent carrying extra gear.
